Buying guide

How to choose audio and vibration parts

  • Loudspeaker vs. earpiece. The loudspeaker is at the bottom (ringtones, speakerphone); the earpiece is at the top (calls).

  • Earpiece with sensor flex. On many iPhones the earpiece sits on the proximity/ambient light sensor flex, which is part of the Face ID / True Tone system – transfer the original flex where possible.

  • Taptic Engine. Choose by exact model; a faulty Taptic Engine causes weak or no vibration and haptic feedback.

FAQ

My calls are quiet but speakerphone works – which part do I need?

That points to the earpiece speaker (top). Clean the mesh first; if it is still quiet, replace the earpiece.

Does replacing the earpiece flex affect Face ID?

On iPhone X and later, the flex with the earpiece also carries sensors linked to Face ID/True Tone. Moving the original sensor flex to the new part avoids problems.

What is a Taptic Engine?

Apple's linear vibration motor that provides vibration and haptic feedback in iPhones.
