iPad 7 / iPad 8 / iPad 9 Touch Screen Digitizer

The iPad 7, 8 and 9 share the same 10.2-inch body, which makes the touch glass one of the most widely used iPad parts. These are the iPads found in classrooms and family kitchens, and they get dropped. When the glass cracks but the picture is fine, only this front layer needs changing.

When the glass should be replaced

Cracked glass is the obvious case, and a crack that keeps spreading from the corner will get worse with use. Another is touch that misbehaves: taps that don't register along one strip, or the iPad opening apps on its own. The third is glass that has lifted from the frame after a bend or heat, which lets dust and moisture in.

Read the model number on the back and find it in the list in the specs, then choose the color of your front. Plan for heat, plastic picks and fresh adhesive, and lift the LCD out of the way before cleaning glass fragments from the frame. Wear eye protection while removing the old glass.

This is a repair many owners and school IT teams do themselves, and it extends the life of an iPad that still runs current apps.
