A 27-inch iMac is a lot of screen to lose to one crack or a row of vertical lines. Many A1419 machines from 2012 and 2013 still run well for writing, browsing and family photo libraries, and when the display fails, a replacement assembly is far cheaper than a new computer.

This aftermarket LCD screen display assembly fits the iMac 27-inch A1419 2K models from 2012 to 2013, in S+ Grade.

When the display needs replacing

Cracked glass after the iMac was knocked or something hit the screen is the obvious case. Vertical or horizontal lines, dark patches, flicker, colors that bleed and a black screen while the computer still chimes and runs are the others. A quick check: connect an external monitor, or share the screen from another Mac. If the picture looks fine there, the iMac's own panel is at fault.

Check the model and year in About This Mac before ordering; the later 5K models with the same A1419 number need a different assembly. On these iMacs the glass and panel are bonded and held in with adhesive, so the job needs new adhesive strips and a careful hand.

With the iMac unplugged and a technician doing the work, the old machine can keep going for years.
