Details

The non-Retina 21.5-inch iMac (A1418, 2012 to 2014) is still common in offices, classrooms and reception desks. These machines often run a single job well for years, so a cracked or failing screen is usually the only reason one comes in for repair.

This aftermarket LCD screen display assembly fits the iMac 21.5-inch A1418 2K models from 2012 to 2014. It's offered in S+ Grade.

Faults that point to the display

Lines, dead pixels, flicker, a dim or patchy backlight and a black screen while the computer still boots all point to the display. A cracked screen after a knock or a fall during an office move is common too. Connect an external monitor to check that the graphics side is fine before ordering.

Check the model number on the underside of the stand and the year in About This Mac; the 4K Retina A1418 uses a different assembly. On these iMacs the glass is bonded to the panel, so the whole assembly is replaced and new adhesive strips are needed.

Unplug the iMac before opening it, and test the new display before sealing it in.
