Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 5G Inner OLED Assembly with Frame

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 introduced a hinge that lets the two halves close flat with no gap, and the inner screen bends into a teardrop shape inside it. That design reduces the visible crease, but it also means a damaged inner panel has to be replaced with care, because the screen and frame are built around the hinge.

This inner OLED assembly comes installed in a frame, for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 5G, US and international versions, in Phantom Black, Cream and Blue. As the supplier doesn't specify a quality, it's sold as aftermarket.

Faults that call for it

A dead line along the fold, cracks from objects trapped inside, flashing or black areas after a drop, and touch or S Pen input that fails across part of the screen are the usual reasons.

Bench notes: test the new screen with the board connected first. Transfer the board, both batteries, cameras and flex cables into the new frame, keeping track of screws. Don't touch the protective layer. Open and close the phone a few times while testing display and touch before sealing the back.

Rebuilt this way, the Fold 5 closes flat and shows a clean picture again.
