Details

Under a bright ring light, metal shields and fresh solder throw glare straight into the eyepieces. The 2UUL MS97 adds a polarizing filter you can rotate until those reflections fade.

It's a 32-LED ring with a 0–100% dimmer and a 47 mm inner diameter that fits most binocular and trinocular microscopes. The sealed housing resists dust, oil and flux smoke. It draws 10 W from a 5 V 2 A USB supply.

When the MS97 helps

  • Glare on shields hiding cracked solder joints.

  • Damaged pads that are hard to see on a shiny board.

  • Flux smoke dimming an unsealed light over time.

  • Eye strain from reflections during long sessions.

Setting it up

Clean the objective, slide the lamp on and center it. Power it from a 5 V USB adapter, set brightness to about half, then turn the polarizing ring slowly while watching a reflective area until the glare drops.

Keep it covered when not in use. If you don't need polarization, the MS98 is the simpler lamp. For very shiny boards, combine the polarizer with a lower brightness setting, which usually shows solder texture better than a bright, flat light.
