SUNSHINE SL-907A Soldering Iron 40 W

A 40 W iron is plenty for small leads and won't cook a flex cable if you linger. The SUNSHINE SL-907A is a 40 W pen-style iron on 220 V, adjustable from 250 to 450°C, with an LED indicator that shows when it's heating.

It uses a ceramic heating core and takes 936 series tips, so spare shapes are easy to find. The handle has an anti-slip silicone sleeve, and the cable is about 1.5 m.

Small jobs it suits

• Loose pins on small connectors.

• Worn joints on switches and buttons.

Tips

Its lowest setting is 250°C, so it isn't for low-melt work. Use a fine 936 tip for small joints and a chisel for larger pads, and switch it off when you walk away since there's no sleep mode mentioned.

With lower power than the SL-908 and SL-936, it recovers more slowly on heavy pads. It's a 220 V model only, so check your mains supply before you order.
