The iPhone X, XS and XS Max were Apple's first OLED iPhones, while the XR, released alongside the XS, used an LCD. That difference still matters today: a budget Incell screen in an X or XS swaps the original OLED for an LCD, while on the XR it replaces like with like.

This screen assembly comes with the bezel fitted, for the iPhone X, XR, XS and XS Max. Each model is offered in OEM Refurb and Incell, and the XS Max also in Hard OLED.

When these screens need replacing

The usual reasons are cracked glass, green lines or black blotches on the OLED models, a dark LCD on the XR after a drop, a screen that shows nothing while the phone still rings, and touch that is unresponsive or erratic.

Each model has its own screen, so check the model in Settings first. Move the earpiece and sensor assembly from the old screen gently, because Face ID relies on it. True Tone is tied to the original screen and is usually restored with a programmer. Test display, touch and Face ID before sealing.

With the right quality for the model, these phones stay useful as everyday or backup devices for years.
