iPhone 16 Pro CNC Donor Board

Say an iPhone 16 Pro slides off a car roof onto the road and the corner impact cracks the logic board under the frame. The phone boot-loops, draws odd current, and the owner needs the data on it. Cracks inside the layers like this are where a CNC-machined donor board earns its place.

This donor board for the 16 Pro is sold as an upper layer without NAND, or a lower layer in US or EU versions. It's a PCB for reconstruction, not a finished board.

Recovering the data first

Treat the customer's chips as the most valuable part of the job. Plan each transfer on the board view, use the lowest heat that works, and avoid repeated heating cycles.

Rejoin the board and check its boot current on a bench supply before connecting a battery. Get the data off first, then decide with the customer whether to continue the repair or simply return the phone.
