Details

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was the model that made Samsung's folding phones practical, with a bigger cover screen and a sturdier hinge than the first Fold. Many are still in use, and the most common reason they stop being useful is a damaged inner screen: a line along the fold, a dead patch or a crack from a closed-in object.

This inner OLED assembly with frame fits the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G, in Mystic Black or Mystic Bronze. As the supplier doesn't specify a quality, treat it as an aftermarket screen.

When the inner screen should be replaced

Replace it when a line or black strip runs along the fold, when the screen has cracks under the protective layer, when areas flash or stay black after a drop, or when touch fails near the hinge.

The internals move from the old frame to the new one, which is a long job on a phone this complex. Keep the screen's protective layer in place, track every screw, and test the display at several fold angles before closing. The Fold 2 has no water resistance rating, so moisture damage is worth checking for while it's open.

A new inner screen gives a Fold 2 a second life as a big-screen phone for reading and work.
