DJI Air 3 Front Vision Sensor Assembly

Tracking a cyclist along a wooded trail, an Air 3 clips a branch and drops into the undergrowth. The camera survives, but afterward the app reports forward vision errors and obstacle sensing in front stops working. The nose of the drone took the hit, and so did the forward sensors.

This front vision sensor assembly is listed for the DJI Air 3 and supports forward obstacle detection. The listing names no maker; we sell it as aftermarket.

Air 3 forward-sensing problems it fixes

• Forward vision or obstacle-sensing errors after a frontal impact.

• Cracked, scratched or misaligned front sensor lenses.

• Obstacle avoidance behaving erratically in front only.

The Air 3 senses obstacles in every direction, so damage at the nose usually leaves the other sides working and points straight at the front pair. Before replacing it, clean the front lenses and check the error in good light; dirt and low light both reduce vision performance. After fitting, run the vision calibration, then test obstacle sensing slowly in open space before relying on it on a trail.

With the front sensors working again, the Air 3 can be trusted to slow down for the next branch.
