DJI Air 2 Downward Vision Sensor Module

Picture an Air 2 that hovers steadily at height but drifts and wobbles close to the ground, or keeps showing downward vision errors, may have a damaged downward sensor. The underside of the drone takes the brunt of rough landings on gravel, sand and wet grass.

This downward vision sensor module is listed for the DJI Mavic Air 2; with no maker named, it's an aftermarket part.

Checks before replacing the downward sensor

1. Clean the sensor lenses on the underside with a soft lens cloth.

2. Fly over a textured, well-lit surface; plain, reflective or dark ground can confuse any vision system.

3. Run the vision calibration in DJI's desktop software and retest.

4. Look for cracked lenses, moisture or a loose cable after a crash.

Signs the module is damaged

Errors that persist after cleaning and calibration, unstable hovering at low altitude, inaccurate landing detection and visible damage are the usual reasons to replace it. After fitting the new module, calibrate the vision system again and test-hover low over open ground.

A working downward sensor makes low hovering and landing predictable again, which matters most in tight spots.
