The iPhone 7 Plus was the first iPhone with two rear cameras, a wide lens and a telephoto lens, and it introduced Portrait mode. Many are still in use as backup phones. When the camera fails, Portrait mode and zoom are often among the first features affected.
This aftermarket rear camera module is the dual camera for the iPhone 7 Plus.
Replace it when the camera shows a black screen, when photos stay blurry with clean lens glass, when 2x zoom or Portrait mode stops working, or when the picture shakes. Drops and liquid are frequent causes.
Opening the phone means removing the screen with pentalobe and tri-point drivers, a suction cup and picks. After fitting, test both lenses, Portrait mode, zoom, focus and flash. If only the lens cover is cracked, that's a separate and cheaper repair.
A new module gives an iPhone 7 Plus its full camera features back, Portrait mode included.
For a phone this age, it's an inexpensive way to keep it useful.
