The iPhone 16 moved its two cameras into a vertical line on the back, and added a Camera Control button on the side. Owners use the camera more than ever with that quick access, so a camera fault feels like losing a key feature. It's worth knowing what the module covers before ordering.

This aftermarket rear camera module is the dual camera for the iPhone 16. It doesn't fit the iPhone 16 Plus.

When the module is the fault

Replace the module when photos stay blurry through clean, undamaged lens glass, when one lens shows black, when the image shakes or the module buzzes, or when the camera app can't start. Note that a new camera module won't fix a faulty Camera Control button, which is a separate part.

Rule out cracked lens glass first. Fitting the module requires opening the phone and working carefully around its connectors. After fitting, test both lenses, focus, video and the flash. iOS may list the camera as a replaced part.

With a new module, the iPhone 16's camera is back in action for everyday photos and video.

Keep the lens covers clean afterward, since a smudge can look like a focus problem.
