DJI Air 2 Gimbal Camera Flex Cable

The Air 2's gimbal camera talks to the mainboard through a thin flex cable that has to bend every time the gimbal moves. Over time, or after a knock to the camera, it can crack or tear, and the result is a gimbal error, a frozen image or a camera that disappears from the app.

This gimbal camera flex cable is listed for the DJI Mavic Air 2 and carries signal and power between the gimbal camera and the mainboard. With no maker named, it's an aftermarket part.

Tracing Air 2 gimbal and camera errors

1. Remove the gimbal cover and check that nothing blocks the gimbal's movement.

2. Restart the drone on a level surface and watch the gimbal's self-check.

3. Inspect the flex for creases, tears or lifted contacts.

4. Replace the flex if it's damaged or the error comes and goes as the gimbal moves.

Fitting the flex

Follow the original routing exactly, leaving the slack the gimbal needs to move through its full range. Seat both connectors evenly, then run a gimbal calibration and record a test clip.

As one of the cheaper parts in the gimbal, it's the first thing to try before a whole gimbal camera.
