AIFEN 3005 DC Power Supply

Boot cables, fixtures and ammeters all need a stable power source, and a bench supply is the piece that ties a board-repair setup together. The AIFEN 3005 is a compact supply with constant-voltage and constant-current modes for powering phones and boards.

The 3005 from AIFEN outputs up to 30V and 5.2A, with 150W of power. It accepts AC 100 to 240V input, switches between voltage and current modes with one key and includes overcurrent protection, a temperature-controlled fan that starts above 55°C and a 5V 2A USB output. The box contains the supply, a power cable, a crocodile clip cable set and instructions.

When the 3005 fits

• Setting up a new board-repair bench.

• Replacing a supply that's failed, drifts or has a noisy output.

• Powering boards through boot cables for current testing.

• Finding shorts by injecting a limited current.

Choosing the plug

The options are EU plug (220V) and US plug (110V). The description also mentions UK, AU and CN plugs, but only EU and US can be selected.

Set the current limit before connecting a board, not after. That one habit protects more boards than any other feature.
